I'm still not sure if you can you imply the presence of a person or not. But I keep thinking of single take following fresh footprints through a house or down a hall. Fresh like still wet from the tub.Or candles burned way down.
Or following a trail of blood or something. It has the suspence factor since everyone would want to know where it leads. Maybe to a door with a light on and music playing on an old phonograph. But what 's the end ? what's the punchline? It might be a good opportunity to make it a big joke, like you set up like you're going to see something really horrific and it ends up being a gag of somekind.
Maybe a note to a roomate explaining all the weird stuff left around the dorm room?

Yeah i'm thinking 1 long shot could be cool. But maybe unfeasable. My equipment is also limited. I got a SMALL dv camera and a blonde and 3 redheads and a boom. So haha no steadycam. Any cheap ways to keep it steady? I was thinking of sitting the camera person in a wheelie chair and securing the camera somehow.

LOL could be a disaster. I've never worked with this camera woman either. Still experimentation and a challenge keep things interesting eh? Or am I mad?

Once I made this mad thing from some string, some curtain stuff and a photo frame. So the camera was supported by string from the photo frame. It didn't make it really steady- but it gave the shot a really cool feel. A cross between a point of view and a steady cam shot- it had a really nice feel. If you have a fold out LCD display you should be able to view wht you get as you shoot it. You could create something similar by putting the camera in a bag- but I dont think the results will be so cool.

You hung a camera to a photo frame with string? So did you hold the two sides of the frame and walk around? Did the string not wobble a bit?

Uhm it wasn't a normal photo frame- but a large thick square thing- with circles around the frame that you could tie the string too. I made a handle from thicker string. It didn't wobble that much and handled corners really nicely. It did wobble but it seemed to add to the shot that take from it. It just looked really good when I walked around with it. Use good quality string and not to be used with heavier cameras (I used it with an XM1) I basically had a piece of string that went under the front- attached to the curtain linder strip and then one on the back- with the LCD display inbetween the two bits. It's worth experimenting with.

Try this for a cheap steadycam.Take a mono-pod and put some wieght on the bottom. This could be anything you can duct tape on there like an ankle weight. Then find the ballance point along the shaft by holding the rig sideways in the crotch of your thumb till it's ballanced. That is the place you should hold it while shooting. Now you just walk as smoothly as you can and your arm can keep things pretty steady since the mono-pod has a ballanced inertia. A few of the poorman's steady cams work on this principle and mostly with decent results after practice. A bit of a workout though.
